Black Pink Jennie has risen to the top spot as a Korean solo singer on the world's largest music streaming platform, Sportify.
According to YG Entertainment on the 16th, Jenny's solo song'SOLO' surpassed 244,800,000 streaming times on Spotify.
This is the most streamed number of songs by Korean solo singers. Psy's'Gangnam Style', which has been popular worldwide, has surpassed the record 246 million times.
In April, Jenny became the first Korean female solo singer to break through Spotify 200 million streaming. Then, this time, it was ranked first in all Korean solos, confirming the terrifying rise in popularity.
Jenny announced'SOLO' in November 2018 as the first runner of Blank Pink's solo project. 'SOLO' was well received by expressing the beautiful chords of the introduction, a concise melody line, and the confident aspect of not being bound by sadness even after a breakup with direct and honest lyrics.
As a solo artist, Jenny's global influence was strong. At the time of its release,'SOLO' took the top spot on the real-time, daily, and weekly charts of major music sites in Korea. Meanwhile, Black Pink, to which Jenny belongs, is sweeping various global charts with the first full album'THE ALBUM' after 4 years of debut.
'THE ALBUM' boasted its presence in the mainstream pop market by ranking second in both'Billboard 200', the US Billboard main album chart, and the UK official album chart.
